Can I transfer my iTunes library to Amazon Music?
Quick answer
Your playlists, yes. Your actual music files, no. Amazon stopped letting people upload their own songs years ago, so the best you can do is rebuild your iTunes playlists from Amazon's catalog.
Amazon pulled the upload feature in December 2017 and stopped playing uploaded songs in January 2019. Music you bought from Amazon wasn't affected, but MP3s ripped from CDs or bought on iTunes can't live in Amazon Music.
To move the playlists:
- On a Mac, open the Music app (or iTunes on Windows), select a playlist and choose File > Library > Export Playlist. To grab everything, choose File > Library > Export Library instead, which saves an XML file.
- Go to TuneMyMusic and choose Upload file. It accepts XML, M3U, CSV and TXT files, among others.
- Pick Amazon Music as the destination, sign in and start the transfer.
Each song gets matched to Amazon's streaming catalog, not copied. Rare tracks, bootlegs and your own recordings will show up as Missing in the report. Keep the original files backed up somewhere else, because Amazon won't hold them for you. If your playlists already live in Apple Music, see moving Apple Music playlists to Amazon Music.
