What do I do if my Spotify Liked Songs are over the 10,000-song playlist limit?
Quick answer
Split them into several playlists of under 10,000 songs each. Liked Songs itself has no cap, but every regular playlist still does, so one playlist can't hold them all.
Spotify dropped the cap on saved songs in 2020, but the 10,000-song limit on playlists stayed. Spotify's help pages don't publish the playlist cap, and we found no sign it has changed.
To split by hand on the desktop app:
- Open Liked Songs and sort by Date added so the order stays put.
- Click the first song, scroll down to roughly song 9,900, and Shift+click it.
- Right-click, choose Add to playlist, then New playlist. Name it "Liked 1."
- Click the next song and repeat for "Liked 2," and so on.
Drag the parts into one playlist folder if you want to play them together.
If you're moving them to another service anyway, a transfer tool can do the splitting. TuneMyMusic says that when a list goes over Spotify's cap, it automatically splits the playlist into parts. Its free plan stops at 500 songs, so a library this size needs a paid plan. See the TuneMyMusic review for pricing.
Downloads have their own cap too: 10,000 songs per device on up to 5 devices.
