What happens to my transferred playlists if I cancel my transfer tool subscription?
Quick answer
They stay. Once a playlist is copied to your new service, it belongs to that service, and canceling the tool doesn't touch it. What stops is anything ongoing, like auto-sync.
All four big tools say the same thing in their own docs:
| Tool | Playlists after canceling | Syncs after canceling |
|---|---|---|
| Soundiiz | Stay on the destination | Premium syncs lost, setups deleted |
| TuneMyMusic | Remain intact | Not documented |
| SongShift | Not deleted | Pro features stop |
| FreeYourMusic | Stay on the new service | Auto-sync stops |
In every case you keep paid features until the period you paid for ends, then drop to the free plan. Your source playlists aren't affected either, since these tools copy rather than move.
The catch is syncs. If you set up a sync so new songs in a Spotify playlist also land in Tidal, that link breaks when Premium ends. The playlist on Tidal stays as it was on the last sync and just stops updating. TuneMyMusic doesn't say what happens to its syncs, but they're a Premium feature, so expect the same.
So it's safe to subscribe for one month, run your big transfer, check the results and cancel. Our guide to checking a transfer helps with that last step.
