Will Sonos switch my playlists to a new music service?
Quick answer
No. Sonos only plays what your services give it, and it won't swap tracks from one service for the same songs on another. Move your playlists with a transfer tool first, then connect the new service to Sonos.
There are two kinds of playlist to think about.
Playlists saved in your streaming account (Spotify, Apple Music and so on) belong to that service, not to Sonos. Copy them to the new service with a tool like TuneMyMusic or Soundiiz, or the new service's own import. Once you add the new service in the Sonos app, they show up there like any other playlist from that account.
Sonos playlists, the ones you built with Add to Sonos playlist, point to tracks on a specific service. Sonos warns that when you remove a service, anything saved to Sonos Favorites or Sonos Playlists from it will no longer be available. Sonos doesn't offer a way to convert these, so before you remove the old service, open each Sonos playlist and add the same songs from the new service. You can edit them under Sonos Favorites > Playlists, then More > Edit Sonos playlist (Sonos).
The easiest fix is to keep your important playlists in your streaming account rather than as Sonos playlists. Then a switch is just a normal transfer, like our Spotify to Apple Music guide.
